Take Care of the Land

Overview

Our 7th grade team is from Honolulu, Hawaii. This challenge is important to us because we come from a culture that valued the environment and lived in harmony with nature for hundreds of years. We’ve since lost that close connection with the environment, but we are looking for ways we can reconnect and care for the land the way our ancestors did in the past.

3. What is already being done to care for our local environment?

Example Guiding Activities

1. Survey people about their recycling habits, water usage habits, and/or energy use.
2. Interview an expert regarding ways to make better environmental choices.
3. Conduct internet and print research on sustainability topics, issues, and problems.
